Can I still use this cane ?
« on: February 26, 2013, 01:59:51 pm »
I've had a bunch of canes for several years now. Is it still possible to make arrows out of them ? I didn't know if they would take to the heat treating and everything involved. Thanks !

If they have been stored in the dry they should be OK. Treat them just like any other.

Like Pat said, they should be fine, as long as they were kept out of the weather.  But do check them for little holes, or sawdust on the ground around them.  Little beetles like pine bores, do a really bad number on them, and they are useless, except for fire starters. ;)  I lost a bunch of shafts to those little @#*&^#!!'s! >:( >:(
I don't worry too much about them up here in Montana.  Not that they aren't here.  Just not as climatically friendly, for them as in Florida.   ;)  go ahead and try them, but check for tiny little holes, and the dust on the floor.
