deer jawbone knife
« on: April 28, 2013, 04:48:39 pm »
I didn't forge the blade.
the jawbone is from my first bow killed (selfbow) deer from a couple of years
ago.
Knife isn't done but it's getting there- need to apply some sort of finish to the bone
and make a sheath for it.

Very nice indeed!!  Will you need to set the teeth with some sort of glue or pitch?

several drops of superglue at each tooth and they're pretty solid.

looks good! i've made several with deer jawbone handles and i've found that tru-oil works exellent for a finish, i usually use 6-8 couts with a light sanding with 1200 grit between every 3rd coat
PRIMITIVE ARCHERY what other way can you play with sticks and rocks all day and not look like a little kid

Every time i shoot at a bunny i recall the wise words of Elmer Fudd "I've got you now you waskally wabbit!"
