IMO one needs to have used sinew before one can form an opinion on how it performs when wet.

after accidentally letting some sit in rain for 20 mins or so, I think I can safely say that wet sinew tends to lose power. I realize I have never used it, but IMO for a simple bow, which needs to be durable, I think it would be best not to back it with sinew.

Remember, sinew backing can always be protected with snake skin, which, around here, is rather easy to obtain since garter snakes are everywhere.
