Good begenner stave?

Looking for a stave of any species that would be good for a beginner to work with. Strait and know knots.

I've got a few really nice hickory staves I harvested recently. All are about 70 inches long, 2 inches wide and their thicknesses vary. They might have a couple pins on them, but no large knots. What can you offer in trade?
