hey derek just saw your post here...yup...your bow grip  ...used this method but didnt take into consideration the thickness of the leather ..worked beautifuy i think.

Shame to cover that pretty wood handle.    ;)

Extend the "top" & "bottom" a bit and then fold that bit over and glue it to itself . . . gives ya nice finished edge at top and bottom of your leather-wrapped handle.

Lehtis:
I’ve sewn my handles (similar outlook as in the beginning of this chain) wet. I cut the leather few mm short and when sewn moist the leather stretches and the edges meet nicely. After drying overnight the fit is really tight round the handle. No glues needed. In most cases I’ve added a layer or two TruOil or bees wax against moisture.
