Alberta Bear with My Big Bear Osage Self Bow

Buffalogobbler:
Thanks for the nice words guy's!

JW, I did'nt think of spot and stalk, the bush is too vast and dense up there, but I almost decided to hunt from the ground instead of a tree stand, almost all of the bears I saw knew I was there and they did not care, they came in anyway.Several came up to my tree and started to climb before I shooed them away, and only one ran away, the others went to the bait, and the one that ran away, came back to the bait later. When I was helping Chuck blood trail his bear, a small boar, about 200lbs. walked by me at about 10 yds with not a care in the world as I filmed him.

Leroy, the skeeters were so big they could carry a small cub away! I'm thankful I did not have to deal with the black flies!

Way to go Kevin!  One of the highlights of my Classic trip was when you came up and showed me the bow that you made.  I never knew who got that stave last year.  It is so awesome to know that it took down two bears.  I've been anxiously checking every day watching for updates from you and Chuck.  Congratulations!

Ifrit617:
That thing is beautiful Kevin. Both the bow and the bear. Great hunt as killer tips.

Thanks again for the kind words guy's.

Clint, When our hunt got pushed back one week and I knew that we were going to the Classic this year, there was only one thing that I wanted to do, and that was show you the bow I made for the bear hunt. This was my first ever hunt outside of N.Y. and I wanted to get everything that I could from the adventure and that started with making a special bow from that special stave.
I have only made 5 self bows, the first one I made with Gary Davis is a bow that killed a buck and a doe the first time I hunted with it, to me it is a very special bow, it changed my life as a hunter and archer, I named it "Hawkeye Spirit", and I told people that I could not see myself shooting another bow, I loved it that much.
For this bear hunt I was hoping I could make another bow that could match up, I had my doubts. This new bow has exceeded my expectations! Even though it is heavier in poundage, it is easier to draw and I shoot it better than my old bow, which has now become my official back up bow.
I named this bow "The Big Bear"
I just wanted you to know how much I appreciated that stave!
THANKS!!!
I have more pics and video that I will post as I find the time.
