Full quench in canola oil. No warping as far as I could see. I let it cool to around 500 each time when I was normalizing, guess I did it wrong :)

No I don't have that book, is it a good read? I tend to figure everything out by trial and error mostly error...

not nesarerily wrong.
especially if your blade is staying straight with a full quench
its  hard not to get any warping even with a stock removal blade  and an  edge quench
