Snakes Skins for Pacific NW Wood?
« on: June 20, 2013, 06:16:39 pm »
Howdy Fellas,

I was wondering if some of our Pacific Northwest Brothers or Sisters, or anyone else for that matter, might be willing to part with some wood for some East Texas Snake Skins.

Here is what I'm Hunting (Seasoned):

Yew: something nice and tight, about 52 to 62" x 3"W x 2-3"H (Thinking Sinew Backed Paddle Bow).
Vine Maple: Looking for something that would get me to 60 to 70# at 27", don't have to be too straight, but workable.
Ocean Spray: Looking for something that would get me to 50 to 55# at 27"... Also looking for 2 or 3 dozen Shoots that will spine 50 to 55 and be minimum 30".

I would also be up for trading for some Hill Cane shafts.

At the moment I have some Texas Rat Snake, Cottonmouth, Broad Banded Water, Diamondback Water, Bull Snake and Numerous others...
I'll get some photos of some of the skins up this evening.

Thank You for looking,

-gus

Gus, I have some hill cane left. Let me see what I have and I will PM you. I like different snakes than typical. Ones with interesting color and/or patterns or just plain in some cases.

I've got a Pacific Dogwood stave that has been curing since 2003. I like snake skins.

If you have to pull the trigger, is it really archery?

Gus;

That one on the left second picture or the bottom one looks good. Will the cover a 64" bow?

4Dog, That sounds like a Plan for Sure...  ;)

Will do Pat... Do you have a Bow length-width in mind?
Or do you just want me to surprise you?    :)

Gus, I'm going to back off this trade if you don't mind. The stave is so reflexed it will cost too much to ship. Thanks though.

Bryce,

Here are the four nicest Red Rats I have to choose from...

The 47 inch "Nearly Clean" has a few pin holes in it.
The rest are clean.
