White oak backed ipe - string question

These are the raw shafts and the finished arrows.

Tip on the bow

Cameroo:
Sounds like you are getting pretty good cast from that bow! I always wondered if the high density of ipe would add too much weight to the outer limbs of a heavier warbow, and therefore reduce cast, but it doesn't seem to be a problem with yours.

kevinsmith5:
I spent a lot of time thinning the tips with a bow scraper. This is actually my second attempt at this combo, I had the first one shooting very fast with 3/8" tips and thought I was ready to polyurethane it when the top tip snapped off.  Won't be my last bow if this combo though.

So I'm having a heck of a time keeping the brace height consistent with my 20 strand B-55 string. Start at 5-1/2" and after five shots its down to 5". Unstrung, two twists, string, back to 5-1/2". Ten shots, 5" brace again. It seems the string stretches more and more with every use. Suggestions for a material to make a better string from?
