Finding Bamboo supplier in Ontario

I saw full bamboo poles (4" diameter) at Rona yesterday.   I've also seen them in Chinatown.  Now is there a difference between bamboo for bows and just crappy bamboo stakes or is bamboo bamboo and it will all be good? (barring any slashes or gouged in the back)
