How to cook moss agate????(added a couple more pics for you guys)
Bryce:
I've got a chart with temps on it but it doesn't say how longs.
So......how should I do it????
Wolf Watcher:
Those rocks don't really look like moss agate! Moss agate can be cooked at relatively low tem around 350 degrees. How long you cook it depends on how much moisture is in the rock! It can be cooked in your oven or best yet is to cook it in a roaster. I would start with 8 hours after it is brought to the desired cooking tem. If when its cooled and it still seems to need more cooking then try again. Its better to cook with caution than to cook it too hot or too long. Don't ask me how I know that! good luck Joe
Bryce:
They're a bit dirty but it's miss agate :) 350 seems a bit low. A couple guys told me 600deg for 6-8 hrs. But I'm still not sure.
Wolf Watcher:
If its moss agate it heats at a low temperature. If you try it at a low temp you can always go higher, but too high can blow up your stone. I have used moss agate for many years as it is one of the native stones where I grew up! Makes a beautiful point! Joe
Bryce:
I cooked it at 400deg for 12 hrs.....still crappy.... :-\
