Blades of jasper
caveman2533:
I was given two chunks of PA jasper this summer to cut and slab and knap for a guy. I can keep half of the slabs. This what I came up with for his half. This shows the value of slicing up a piece of good, rare rock. All these average about 4 inches long. Those are quarters in the picture.
Ahnlaashock:
Lots of practice for you I see!
I wish my slab saw was repaired! The usable return on the local stone would be at least three times as high.
Outbackbob48:
Steve, the Pa. jasper looks like some high quality stuff, Bob
caveman2533:
The ones with the yellow and red in them were very tough on the yellow. It has all been heated to 500 degrees. And the lighter stuff was still tough. these were two rocks that were not really that large to start with. But cutting them on a bias angle allowed a bit wider slabs and remember this is only HALF of them.
Trapper Rob:
Those are really looking good Steve.
