mullet:
That is sweet, George. What kind of material is that?

gstoneberg:
Thanks guys!  It's pedernales I think Eddie.  Not sure where I got that spall, I think Cipriano brought it over.  I overcooked it so the center was trashed and crumbly, but I got a thin spall off the outside edge with some crumbly stuff in the center.  Was lucky to knock that off without it breaking.  That thick cortex is a bugger though.

mullet:
It still looks good after over cooking, it sure is waxy looking.

gstoneberg:
Yes, if only I hadn't ruined so much of it.  I knocked out 2 points for a friend today.  Not sure what kind of rock the lighter stuff is, the darker is rootbeer.  It didn't take the heating as well and was a little grainy.  Got a nice notch on one side, but the other one stalled right at the edge.  By the time I punched enough of a notch to haft I'd broken it out pretty bad and had to make the other side match it.    Even so, I'm not sure that one is thin enough to haft.  I punched a notch on base trying to get some weight off it and thin it a little but it was still 177gr.  Just didn't get it very thin.  Probably should have keep punching on the base as it was going really well for a change.
