Vinagroon/leather black - how to remove the smell

(1/2) > >>

Sidmand:
Hi all! I just vinegar blacked some leather pieces I am working on for a back quiver, and the color turned out great, but the smell is not pleasant. Anyone know of a way to destink the leather after it's been blackened with vinagroon?

aaron:
it fades over time

Sidmand:
groovy, thanks for the reply.  I did NOT neutralize the treatment with baking soda, I did't have any on hand.  I am going to hit it with a baking soda bath/rubdown this evening when I get home, do you think that will help any?

bowtarist:
Bet is does. Lets see some pics of that stained leather.

Sidmand:
here are some pics of the work I'm doing.  I blackened the knife sheath and the quiver, the pouches are elk hide.  I am going to put it all together to have a single set of gear for all day hunts. I can carry some stuff in the pack and pouches and use some strapping to tie things to the leather panels that I will attach the quiver to.
