That is a very nice looking bow.  Great tiller also.

Thanks, Pat

Thank you, Dwardo

Ha!, Thanks, Badly Bent

Thanks, Cody!

Bow101, I think you're asking why bother with a bow over mid 40's in draw weight. For him, it doesn't matter as much. He wanted to be able to hunt with it should he want to so I tried to keep it above 40. Out where I am we hunt Elk and the legal minimum is 50#. I think most guys like to have closer to 60# for elk though. Obviously the indians did it with lighter weight bows though. I think it's all about knowing your limits and capabilities with whatever your gear.

Thanks, Clint

Thank you, Okie!

Thanks, dbb

Its not so much as why bother, but is it needed,   ???   any way you answered my question on that one where the legal minimum is 50#..  A heavier bow makes sense for hunting Elk. .  :)
Nice bow by the way.

Really nice bow! Is there 3 different colours of dyes?
Did you start with yellow, then layer red, then black on top?
With a brush? Looks great man, tiller as well.
Makes me want to dig into my VM stash

Thanks, wizardgoat. You have a good eye. The inner half was done in light brown the middle in dark red with the tow blending into each other leaving the last 6-8" blank. I used black acrylic paint to carefully edge the white overlays and feathered the paint down so that the transition from the paint to the black stain wouldn't be too obvious. Then I put black stain from the tips down past the red stain and then feathered it into the light brown. I applied the stain with a wad of paper towel. To do the feathering I just used a drier piece of paper towel with little stain left on it and rubbed it more vigorously to leave the faded area.

Nice viney, bud.  Hope your buddy gets to enjoy it.
