White oak self bow

Hey guys, here is a white oak self bow from a tree I cut last year from behind the swamp in the pictures below. Its 66" tip to tip and 50#@28". It is a physically heavy bow but feels solid and just feels like a workhorse that will last a long time. Its not the fastest thing in the world but I feel its plenty fast enough to get the job done on any animal in Michigan. Also its very quiet. It took about an inch and a half of set.

Thanks! This is my first bow using white oak. Its heavy but I like it and it seems to heat treat well with some olive oil

Nicely done. I live in an Oak savanna in Southern Oregon and have yet to get a stave that didn't check! After seeing your bow, I am going to get out there soon and nab more staves...

Wylden, I left the bark on this stave and sealed the ends with wood glue.  ;D Yeah thats my two year olds favorite perch
