Same for me. I put it down for a while, did something else. Pottery was a striking and ideal contrast twice. How forgiving, soft and full of possibility clay is, compared to flint! aaah...

Next time I picked up a rock, I just went way better than before.

When I got started in the 50s there was no help so I just beat up on spalls I found.  I laugh now at some of the stuff I made and actually killed deer and elk with.  I have to admit that I probably have a pickup load of broken or problem attempts that I gave up on.  For me a lot depends on the spall I am working with as they are not all created equal and some just have problems that can't be overcome like unseen fractures.  To this day I am happy to have a successful outcome that I am proud to give away!  So don't get discouraged my young friend!  Joe
