Finally something I'm proud of

I think I'm getting the hang of this stuff. Novaculite is something that I have worked with a lot but never really got any good points out of... well I haven't got that many good points out of anything. Anyway, what I've learned is that abrading constantly is critical, when pressure flaking you need solid platforms and LOTS of pressure, and you must be very patient. This point I did in two sessions. I got a decent biface going then the next day I sat down and finished it out. Anyway, it's good to finally make something I'm proud of. A couple things that didn't turn out as I would have liked; the notching is almost too close together and the flakes didn't like to travel through the gray area so there's a small lump. Regardless, I'm still going to put it on an arrow :)
The other side is just white and it has a couple awkward step fractures toward the middle. This is the pretty side though.

Looks like a pretty good one Tim. If the heat is not just right Novaculite can be lets just say headstrong :o :( Bob

dude as soon as water levels go down I'm making a coral collecting trip. I got to get me some of that!
