3rd Annual Moon Tree Gathering

osage outlaw:
I can bring you guys some billets to practice on.  They are debarked but will need to be taken down at least one growth ring for a clean back.

Danzn Bar:
Hey Clint ...thanks that's great, bring all you want as long as I can take all the practice pieces home once they are cut  >:D

osage outlaw:
You got it Disco Bear.   I need to put a couple aside for Cody but I'll bring plenty for you guys to work on.

TRACY:
I've done a half dozen splices(successful ones) and really like drawing the cuts on the mailing label stickers and applying to the squared up ends of the billets. Back and belly need to flat and squared for best fit. I was doing 4" W splices. I never pegged the splice with a dowel like some say to do. After seeing what Marc St. Louis does with his splices, I think it's a good idea to glue up the splice with setback in the handle like he does. He also only does a 3" splice.

Danzn Bar:
:o  W0w Tracy getting all technical on us ...glad to see some experience going to be there.  We may end up with a bunch of nice spliced staves at the end of the weekend.   I love it......................................
