rock for knapping

hi guys new here i want to try my hand at knapping some arrow points  wondering whay kind of rock i could find localy in orange county new york area thanks

I'm not too familiar with the geography of NY, but I know that NY has Normanskill and Onandaga chert, both pretty good rock.

Go to the Hudson and explore the creeks (kills) emptying into it- and you'll find Normanskill or Esopus flint.
