Classic Trade: Knife blanks..

<< < (4/6) > >>

wildman:
If you have a French or English style scalper blank I would be interested. I am bringing some Osage staves (seasoned) leather , turkey primaries and secondaries and whatever else I can fit in the Yota.

HickoryBill:
Patrick.:.Believe it or not not all rasps and files are made the same...Ferriers rasps are usually just case hardened on the ouside, by the time you get the teeth all off or pounded out, if forging, you aint left with much good steel, atleast for knife making.

Wildman: I have 6 blanks promised out and I have 7 well on the way..Your welcome to look at the last one left

lebhuntfish:
I didn't realize that Bill. I have a buddy of mine making a knife from one right now. Will they work if you harden the steel? Patrick

HickoryBill:
Generally speaking MOST..Ferries rasps have a low carbon content in the make up of the steel( The reason they case harden them) So hardening one will only do so much...Maybe he has a good one

HickoryBill:
I have 5 of the blanks all finished up..all different styles.I have 2 more to finish up tomorrow
