4 "new" hazel shoot arrows
« on: July 16, 2015, 01:24:37 pm »
I just finished refurbishing some old hazle shoot arrows. They were a bit inconsistent in spine and weight, so I stripped them of fletching, points and the old beeswax finish. I sanded them down to a more or less consistant spine (and weight...the two seem to go hand in hand in this case).  I gave them new fletching of grey goose and a brown peacock nock feather and new cone points. For finish I chose Danish oil.

Anyways....thought I would share these;-):

Thanks for watching:-)

Woo, very clean. I don't have the patience for making arrow. I've done a few Hazel ones just so I have some primitive arrows for my primitive bows, but they are no where near as clean and straight as those beaut's

Way to go on the restoration. Old becomes better than new. Fantastic!

Thanks for all the kind words:-)

Nice arrows...I'm interested in the points.................What kind of point are they?

I bought the points from Frank Riedel who had a stand at this years Vejen traditional event i Denmark. He is german and im not sure if he has a webstore. My guess is that those cone points are mass produced., so they should be availabe elsewere. Mine are 100 grs, and those were the heaviest (iirc).

Cheers
