cutting string angle on nocks question

(1/1)

dragonman:
what is the optimum string angle that should be cut into the nock for a 70" longbow? I usualy cut them at 45 degrees , this seems to work for my 26" to 27"  shorticsh draw,  but recently made a bow for someone with a 29" draw and the string pops out of the groove at full draw. Was wondering what angles others cut into their nocks?

PatM:
The nock should be cut at the angle that matches brace height and widened at an open angle that will accommodate full draw. It should not be a simple slot that only looks pretty at brace.

dragonman:
cheers Pat, I think cos I have a short draw and normaly make recurves, I never encountered the problem before, now you say it its obvious, ....thanks again
