Tracker0721:
So I'm road tripping from Central TX to Eastern WA and when I drive through I plan to load up some obsidian. Anyone know how to go about this? I'll be passing through in the first part of June. Heard rumor that the limit is like 250#s a year but that's it for rules that I've heard of. I'm sure there's gotta be more. Any help is appreciated!

Ed Brooks:
I found on line it's 25lbs a day and 250lbs a yr. have fun. I need to make that trip some time. Ed

wizardgoat:
I'm pretty sure your not allowed shovels. Hands only

aaron:
no, wizard is wrong. shovels and hand tools OK. No power tools.
you'll want a shovel, pry bars of all sizes,. a nice long six foot "breaker bar" helps.
I have never seen anyone out there checking or weighing loads- I'd just go for as much as you want up to 250 lbs.
If you can, go out to the Riley Dacite pits- easy digging and big pieces.
do some google searches - there's a couple maps online.
old pits are being exhausted and new pits discovered all the time.
on google earth, search for musser resovoir.

YosemiteBen:
I do not know if the rock shop in Burns oregon is still open - they used to have maps and info there....
