Magnolia leaves- alternative feather material?

(1/1)

richpierce:
I have some goose and duck feathers but the duck ones are narrow and neither is very strong.  I notice that magnolia leaves are thick, sort of leathery feeling and kind of strong.  I might give them a try and give a report. I have used duct tape 2-fletch with success but it looks "ghetto" as my daughter would say.

wolfsire:
You can use duck tape for a 3 fletch, but is more difficult.  You can bling it up with differnet colors.  Camo pattered duck tape might look better, but would be a lot harder to find outside than neon pink.   :D

I have used palm frond clippings for fletching.  Not great, but not bad, until it dries.  Then if it holds together, it cuts your hand.
