nakedfeet:
Not to toot my own born, but I'm pretty good at primitive fire. Can get it done more often than not.

Not totally sure what's growing right around there but I seem to remember a cedar swamp. Cedar and basswood are about as good as it gets up where I am (TC). If we can find a fallen cedar to split up we can make more bow drill kits than we'd know what to do with.

Pappy:
I can assure you we can owlbait, don't think Rocky will put Ron in front of us, :o would very much surprise me if he did. ;) :)

PEARL DRUMS:
Tony I tried that exact set up. All I could get for hours was intense smoke. I assume moisture in the hearth or drill was my killer. I am more than ready to learn how to do this right. Cant wait!

Rocky:
Courses will be open to ALL. Play your own games and enjoy!! There's probably a "green" bow shoot someplace on our agenda Pappy.

MWirwicki:
I think that I've heard the same, on the Green Bow shoot.   >:D
