Laminated hoof/horn

I have some dog chew hoof pieces that are not thick enough to make tip overlays. Do you think I could trust tips made of laminated pieces of hoof? I would probably use thick CA to glue them. I could orient the glue joint any way.

Most bow woods don't need tip overlays anyway so even a thin layer of horn is an improvement. You can laminate horn to horn or horn to wood...throw in some antler too. Sometimes thin layers are needed to conform to a curved tip.

This summer a guy wanted to sell both elk antlers for $60.00 at a garage sale,  I said nada.  I would of paid $20 for 1.

I can't believe the price they ask for these things. There is a "Junk" shop in town that has three or four boxes of antlers and they want $25 for the antlers of a two spike. These are Island deer, small. Is there a use for them I don't know about.

Not sure but all we have to do is find a good spot in the bush and go looking.  Years ago we came across a few.  I did manage to get a small piece of antler is was an old cutlery handle.  Off I go to the Thrift stores again.  :)
