What book or online resources are there for a new guy to learn all these different styles of points you guise talk about and attempt to emulate?

TRACY:
Overstreet guide has plenty of point styles. Get an older edition if you don't want to spend a lot of $. There are others but this one has a lot of examples of point styles per region.
