first non preform point HELP PLEASE
Trapper Rob:
Dan the only thing I can see wrong with it is there's no blood on it.
Spotted Dog:
Thanks guys. I am having trouble with pressure flaking. How to discern platforms. Maybe my lighting is bad.
I abrade but can't seem to get a flake . Only tiny chips. Of coarse I'm working on small stuff. Help Please.
le0n:
Could be the angle of attack, could be the energy you're applying, could be the tine quality, could be the supporting of the piece, could be a weak platform, could be the grain of the rock. Any of these variables (and more) can easily play a role in what's happening.
Show us the before and after edge you attempt to flake. Show us the resulting tiny chips.
Take a photo of how you are holding the piece you're working on. Are you bracing on the inside of your legs?
Give as much info as possible.
le0n:
^^ in for explanation.
also, nice sketch 8)
Spotted Dog:
I think the angle and support of the piece first and then tine.
