arrow pass?

hey guys

just a quick question, Iv almost finished my first warbow and want to mark the arrowpass.
I was thinking of burning a mark into the wood, a small makers mark, but Im unsure if it is a good idea or will it damage the wood too much?
what do you guys think, and what else would be a good alternative?
i dont want to glue a horn plate or put a leather grip on it, want to keep it simple.

I've used inlaid arrow pass, no arrow pass and a burnt in mark.
The head of a big round head nail makes a nice brand if the head cleaned up a tad by running it in a drill against a file or cleaning it up on a belt sander. Gives a nice clean dot.
Here's one I did on a Yew Molle' (left handed bow)

Okay thanks for the info!
Iv made a sort of stamp out of steel so ill heat that up and make the pass.
