Hand forged knife

(1/6) > >>

loosenock:
I forged this knife from 1095 high carbon steel.  The blade is 5 1/4 inches in length and the overall length is 9 3/8 inches.  The handle is whitetail deer wrapped with elk rawhide and buffalo sinew.

The blade is stamped with my mark, the letter Y breaking through an arrow and the cross of lorraine.

I loves me a hand forged blade! ;)
Beautiful work, although I never understood why folks wanted to wrap rawhide around a knife handle that was gonna get blood and stuff on it. I'd expect that the moistened rawhide would swell and make the grip slippery . But I guess there may be a reason for it I just haven't gathered yet.Sure looks cool though.
If it were me it would be because I misdrilled the hole for the pin in the handle.  ;D

Thats nice, I need a forge next ;D

Nice knife. Forging blades make for stronger blades than reducing the blade.    Pat
