4th Annual Moon Tree Gathering
hedgeapple:
hmm don't know what happened to the pic
osage outlaw:
If that is in the fade you might be able to round it off enough to get rid of it. I don't think it will cause you any problems.
hedgeapple:
Clint, my plan is to have a round handle then continue the roundness out past the fades by a 1/2" then flatten the belly. As pictured, I got rid of 95% of the crack today. I got the limb bending some floor tillering. There's still a lot of wood that needs to be removed. I put a seam of super glue over the crack to prevent it from opening up, again. This crack was caused during splitting around a knot.
Worse case scenario is it splits off at the fade corner, which would still allow me to make an eastern woodland/bendy handle bow.
There's a lot of new stuff I'm trying with this bow. It will probably change hour by hour. I'm just going to listen the to the wood to see what kind of bow it wants to be. If I listen closely to the language of the wood, it should turn out OK.
This stave would have been a pretty good candidate for a R/D. And, I really toyed with the idea, but since I've never done a R/D bow, I chicked out. haha
---GUTSHOT--->:
Its looking good Dave

The crack is gone,now. I had it on a long string just a bit, today, to see how it's balancing out. A bit more scraping then I'm puttin it back on the caul to heat in some reflex
