spine question
« on: February 27, 2008, 01:55:26 am »
Due to a shortage of time and resources, I'm trying to buy shafts online. The problem is that I don't know what spine arrows to order. I have a 25'' draw, my bow is a 50 pounder, and the string lines up about 1/2'' from the arrow pass. Any ideas. The only archery shops near me are strictly :P   compound oriented so I doubt they'll have a spine tester. Does anyone else have a similar set up? Any help would be greatly apreciated.

Without more info I would say go 40# and leave them 28" long.  By 1/2" away I assume you have a big cut out. If it is cut beyond center shot, the spine can be stiffer and it wont hurt.  It makes some difference if it is a longbow or re curve.  Justin

It's a straight tip flat bow with no cut out. I managed to line up the string closer to the arrow side; the handle is 1 1/2'' wide but I figure the only thing that matters is the actual deflection of the arrow.

Justin, did you mention that you live in Utah? I'm in the Provo/Orem area.
