That's is some gorgeous wood work.. How thick do your blanks for a bowl start out?

Don, I bet that agate was beautiful! I'm kind of a wood whore and always trading for something pretty.
Lumber man, I like blanks that are 3" deep, but 2 1/2" will work and 6"-9" circles is all I can handle on this lathe.

Nice bowl stringman! How does that myrtle turn? My last bowl gave me a lot of grief- I need to start looking for stuff that turns nicer.
Stringman:
So far I've turned red oak, sycamore, black locust, Osage, maple, basswood, walnut and myrtle. This myrtle turns about as nice as any of them except Osage is the nicest. Walnut is the most difficult, but looks the best if finished nicely.
Another couple I made this morning... Myrtle on the left walnut on the right.
