Elephant in the frig?

<< < (2/3) > >>

Zuma:
Thanks folks.
The material a lot to do with my success with flaking it.
It actually does what you set it up to do.
My only tiny complaint is that it chatters in one direction
against the concentric rings.
BJ, Hand fluting is really quite simple and easy if you have enough
material on hand so that you are free to whack a well prepared nipple.
Watch it Jojo.
I'll make a drawing and post it in a while.

OK this is my brain on knapping ???

Pic 1 Shows how to isolate the platform (nipple)
Lower side approx 130 degree angle. Pressure flakes
where needed to isolate (front and/or back)
Make sure the nipple is wider if you want to make the
flake wider and stout enough to carry it as far as you want it to go.
The power in my experience is just like any blow necessary
to remove a large flake. More knappers need to knap larger
flakes. Just make suitable platforms.

BTW I wrap points over 3.5 inches long.

Majuba Tom:
Nice clovis and info. Now I just need to find that Elephant. ;)

nclonghunter:
Excellent point Zuma, looks like one found in Florida..:-)
