I live 50 miles south of Tampa, noihing down this way but sand and shell. Like Eddie said from Tampa north for knappable material

Thanks guys, my buddy is headed north now. Said all he could find was limestone and plenty of it..😄

Eric should have looked under the bridges he drove over. Most of the slopes are covered in Brookesville and Ocala limestone with some real good chert mixed in, a lot of rootbeer.

Or, called me. I had some coral waiting for him to pick up.

most people think the whole state is covered in coral, but truth is only a few counties have it and there are no places to just pull up to and find any ......like Mullet said, most bridges, especially new bridges all have chert mined from the Vulcan mine in Brooksville as erosion control , some of it has a light purple color to it, some very quartz but the darker stuff works well
