First attempt at brain tanning
BrianS:
I always wanted to brain tan a hide but never quite found the time. Inspired by friends Dino Z. and Rob M., I finally MADE the time this year to do it! It was a lot of work but fun. I learned a bunch, made some mistakes, stuck with it. My work is not as nice as theirs but I was satisfied with my results for my first attempt. I still need to smoke it but I think they hard part is behind me. Not sure what it will be made into. Right now, I am leaning towards making it into a shooting bag and if there is enough left over a strap for the basket quiver Dino's Wife made. If anyone else (Buffalo Gobbler) is considering trying to tan a hide, go ahead and give it a go! If I could do it, You can to.
Take care,
Brian
