That is a fine looking bow.

I have been wondering for some time whether it is as critical to follow the grain and the growth ring on a kinky wood like elm. Does it have less tendency to crack?

As far as I know, once the bark is removed--well, that is the back of the bow. But more seasoned guys/gals here on PA probably know more about Elm than me.
