A special gift

(1/4) > >>

paulsemp:
Last weekend I received a real special gift from my buddy Mike AKA sticks and stones. We were sitting around the fire and he pulls out a blade already set in a bone to wrap with some sinew. He finished it up and hands it to me and says this is for you. This blade was knapped by Norm Blaker. For you guys that don't know Norm he is an absolute living legend  in the world of primitive skills.  He shows up to Marshal every year and I believe he's right around 80 years old. I first got the chance to meet him about 4 or 5 years ago at marshall. I recognized him from reading about him when I was young and let me tell you he doesn't look any different. Mike knew I always admired him and thought this piece would suit me well. Once again Mike thank you it will always be treasured

Chippintuff:
That is unique and nice. Is the handle carved in that scale pattern, or is that a wrap/

paulsemp:
I believe it's a deer leg bone and is wrapped

Stixnstones:
Paul, I'm so glad that it means a lot to ya buddy. It is deer leg bone and wrapped with WDB skin. Glued in with pine pitch and wrapped with sinew.
