Knapping Glass

(1/2) > >>

Jodocus:
I have not been knapping glass for a while. Now I'm practicing with punches, and picked up some fat glass shards again, since good rock is too rare around here to ruin it and glass is nicely easy on beginners. But ah, yes, I must have forgotten:

That stuff is  DISGUSTING!  horrible tiny fragile shards of really all sizes everywhere.

I'll have to get me some old sink or some floor tiles or whatever. Knapped glass stuff looks real nice, but the mess it leaves in the process is horrible. I fell I want to wear full body protection and a filter mask and goggles and whatnot.

Chippintuff:
I learned on glass, but now I get cut every time I touch it.

There are some things about glass I like >:D
Zuma

Jodocus:
Zuma, that thing is amazing, looks like from some cartoon :D
You can really knap the thing out of glass, and if it's transparent, you can even watch the flake detach on the backside of your piece.

But then I want to wipe the dust off my fingers, and with a gentle brush, I drive all those little shards into my skin and break off the excess ends I could have pulled em out on...

Never happens with stone.

Tower:
Glass & obsidian....... that's what I hate about it the most.
I always seem to cut myself .
