This takes an amazing amount of pressure for very little gain. Only pressure flaking. Maybe percussion would be better?

Alrighty then. Probably too late for this piece. Maybe the next one. How hot and for how long?

Tower:
Heat it.  It's salvageable ;)

mullet:
That's Brazilian Agate. I've thrown some in the kiln at 450 all night and it did little good. So I'm just guessing somewhere in the 600-800 range.
