Yes they do.

sorry, I was trying to be helpful in that Mino is the name for the Japanese version and there seems to have quite a bit of info online on how to construct anything samurai related not to imply that there aren't 100 other regional variations

No worries. It's an interesting idea and I got curious and poked around a little. I have seen them being made from everything from bundles of straw to straw door mats. I know those are thick and heavy
