leather workers knife

(1/2) > >>

catfishon:
a guy in alaska wanted me to make this to cut leather.
hope it works well for him. i tried it on some thin pieces i have and it cut like paper.
handle is elk.

huntertrapper:
its like a ulu or however its said and the knife was invented by inuits i think.

catfishon:
this one was copied from one i saw on tandy leathers web site

Justin Snyder:
Great fleshing knives also, once you get the hang of it.  The Inuit use it in much the same fashion as a leather worker. Thinning or fleshing whale/walrus skin must be the true test. Justin

DanaM:
Thought about makin one of these myself since I started doin a little leather work, I have an ulu in the works.

Catfish is it fairly thin steel? And did you harden it or leave it softer for easy sharpening?

Looks like it will do the job.
