Eric Krewson:
Here is the fix for the chipped out place;

My initial repair sux;

Positioned a toe plate;

Scribed the stock width on the plate, senior moment, I should have inletted the plate first as the stock get bigger as it goes toward the center.

Cutting the toe plate t my scribed lines;

Marking for my first cut;

Inletted with the stock wood trimmed to the plate that I cut about 1/16" too narrow;

I had to file the butt plate to the new narrower width.

Done, a little extra bling never hurts. Of course I will have to refinish part of the stock to make everything perfect but I will be satisfied with the fix.

Great save Eric ! Bob

PaulN/KS:
It all looks good Eric. That toe plate just adds a more unique look to the rifle.
Now I am wondering how it will shoot..?  ;)

Eric Krewson:
Well the saga continues; I was doing my final assembly (for the second time), put all the parts in the stock and the hammer wouldn't cock. A quick check of the lock showed that the sear spring plunger wasn't contacting the sear.

No problem I thought, a little oil and a tap or two should free it up, not so. Lots of oil and trying to twist it out were to no avail the dang thing wasn't moving. I ended up taking it to a gunsmith friend, we had to mill the plunger out, it was solidly welded in place with rust.

I don't know how the spring housing got moisture in it but we destroyed the parts getting them out. I found one place had had both parts,(about the size of an pencil eraser) and wanted $13 to ship them. I bought them elsewhere.

Wow, you're have to get creative with this "simple" build. :OK
