gravel thinning

this piece of gravel is non typical of the gravel I usually work. I think this piece came from farther West.
here's it with the 1-1/2" bopper I'll be hittin it with

first two major flake removals got nice overshots and removed a good amount of mass

first flake on the second side split around a hertzian cone and then the next three attempts failed and made bad stepped terminations

those flake where failing due to the cortex and the stone near it being all cracked and unsolid.
I used the edge created by the termination of that big thick overshot as a platform on the far side and ground the bejeezers out of it until the cortex was rounded over and it worked much better..

I've ran out of time tonight.
It still gots square ends with cortex on one.
one side is pretty flat and the other side has good contours that should allow some more big flakes to be taken.
