Lithophone

The definition of lithophone is "any of a class of percussion instruments (such as the qing) that are made of stone and whose sound is produced by striking"  Pretty dry and dull when you see it in print.  However, if you have audio capabilities on your computer, I recommend you crank it up and cut-n-paste the link below (I added a space between the first and second W in the "www", just in case there was something commercial about this video)  This young lady "rocks".

Primitive xylophone, sweet. That would certainly spice up a traditional drum circle.

I wonder how much the type of stone comes into play. If slate and shale will work, I'll have my own set before next winter.
