Are you shooting a fowler or rifle? Kind a big for rifle. I make mine 7"w 8"d with one pocket inside.
I only put in it what I need to shoot. Other tools can go in a belt bag or haversack.

Mostly rifles, .50 and .58 cal.  Them .58 balls take up a lot of room :) >:D!  The original idea was enough room to get my hand in with a glove for hunting,  the inner pockets are for tool, the outer are from the original bag I got with the my first .58 cal. Rifle and I use them for patches and additional caps.  The size also helps me keep track of the bag, most days!  Did plan on getting a shotgun, but haven't done that yet.
