Primitive archers in southern Utah?

Hello Utah archers! I am new to primitive archery, or archery at all. I live in Hurricane Utah and I'm looking for a resources/pointers for tools and wood. Anybody have any luck finding either down that direction? Also I'm visiting Salt Lake currently and had heard that scrub Oak can be used to make bows. Anybody have any experience with that? I'd appreciate any help thanks.
