tape?

stuckinthemud:
Just wondering if anyone ever tried binding a horn/core glue-up with tape instead of rope or clamps?

mikekeswick:
You won't get sufficient pressure and the tape is likely to retard drying of the glue.
The methods that have been used in the past work and are proven - don't reinvent the wheel!
The easiest modern way is lots of g clamps. spaced 1.5 inches apart.

Aaron H:
I've seen a few guys use that stretchy CAUTION tape to bind the core to the horn temporarily.  It was used just to keep everything aligned until c clamps were put on

mikekeswick:
The best way to get the core/horn lined up before applying proper clamping pressure is to reduce the width of the core until it coincides with the horn width in a few places. Use these as references and you know if anything moved whilst clamping. A quick and very secure way to hold the horn in the correct place are zip ties.  Very strong, quick and easy to use.

Aaron H:
That sounds like a useful trick too, thanks Mike
