bow measurements
« on: August 28, 2017, 05:03:05 pm »
Hello All ,
Just like a simple question answered regarding bow measurements . When the length nock to nock is given , is this when the bow is braced or just the length before stringing the bow  , simmilarly with tip to tip?
Thanks

Unbraced.ttt is usually about 1-1/2" longer than ntn.
Some like motorboats,I like kayaks, some like guns,I like bows, but not the wheelie type.

While making the bow, to simplify things, I simply go by the actual length of "short" string.

It has been a tough week.

Let me amend what I wrote earlier with apologies. Yes the length of the bow is a measure emit along the back but...

When I measure a bow for a string I do it along the belly nock to nock. I just use a tape measure and stretch it nock to nock which automatically  takes care of any set.

For a bow that I just finished, I just twist the string to the same length as the string I used to tiller the bow.

Jawge
